Rita Meher
Rita Meher is the Co-founder and Executive Director of Tasveer. Rita Meher has been nurturing Tasveer since its inception in March 2002. She dedicates most of her time to Tasveer and oversees 3 major festivals in Seattle area every year. Rita also works as as a freelance video editor and picks her editing projects based on socially relevant topics. She has a strong background in producing Government and Public television shows and have worked at Burien TV, Des Moines TV, Renton TV, SCAN TV, debuting her career in TV in Japan 18 years ago. Born and brought up in India, Rita made her first short film Citizenship101 based on her own immigrant experience. She was worked on Nazrah, a Muslim Woman’s Perspective, a Nepali narrative Highway and most recently Bangladeshi documentary Kantha Threads.
Alka Kurian
Alka Kurian is a Lecturer at the University of Washington Bothell where she teaches film studies, literature, women's studies and human rights. She has been working for Tasveer since 2007 and is currently co-director of 9th Seattle South Asian Film Festival. In 2012 she published a book entitled Narratives of Gendered Dissent in South Asian Cinemas and is currently working on an edited book on Emerging Social Activism in South Asian Film, Literature and New Media: A Cultural Studies Perspective.
Dinesh Korde
Dinesh Korde joined the board in 2013. He has been involved with Tasveer since 2011, as an event photographer, volunteer, participant in Community Speaks and Sponsor. Dinesh considers himself very fortunate to be part of a vibrant Tasveer community and contributing towards building strong communities and helping drive thought provoking programs. Dinesh is an active community volunteer and volunteers regularly with Aras Foundation, United Way of King County, Amrita-Seattle, Fromwithin Academy and Pratidhwani. On a monthly basis, he along with his family cook and serve on the Seattle Teen Feed. Dinesh is a professional photographer and is passionate about capturing beauty through the lenses of his camera to create portraits that are artful and have lasting memories. Dinesh is a software engineer by trade and has worked for British Telecom, Intel, Microsoft in the past. Currently he works at T-Mobile as a Development Manager. Dinesh is also producing a media piece addressing the issue of skin color in the South Asian diaspora in the context of relationships called Bandhan. Dinesh lives with his wife, two children and their dog Sparks in Issaquah.
Rituja Indapure
Rituja Indapure joined the board in 2013. She has been involved with Tasveer since 2010, firstly as a performer in Yoni Ki Baat and then as the co-Director of Aaina festival. She currently works at Costco as an Analyst. Rituja is an active community member. She has served on her PTA boards and regularly volunteers with the Aras Foundation, United Way of King County and Technology Access Foundation. She is also a supporter of Teen Feed and serves on the Amrita-Seattle meal team on a monthly basis. Rituja is an enthusiastic member of Toastmasters and enjoys writing letters on paper. Rituja received her BA in English Literature and LLB from University of Pune and LLM from University of Nottingham. Rituja is passionate about women's education, equality and leadership. Rituja lives with her husband and two children in Issaquah.
Prachi Vora
Prachi Vora joined the board in 2013. She was first introduced to Tasveer in 2008 and instantly became an enthusiastic volunteer. She has contributed to the organization in various different ways, including co-leading a program on Reproductive Justice in 2009, co-directing the Aaina festival in 2011, and being a participant of Yoni Ki Baat in 2013. Prachi believes that Tasveer is a unique organization that fosters relationships and encourages community-building. She proudly supports the thought-provoking programs that Tasveer offers, particularly because they have a way of bringing diverse groups of people and organizations together. Prachi lives in the “home of the trailheads,” Issaquah, with her husband and their two children (one canine and one human).
Madhuri Kudaravalli
Madhuri Kudaravalli has been involved with Tasveer since she moved to Seattle in 2012. Madhuri likes that Tasveer brings like minded folks together and provides a safe space for South Asian voices. Since her grad school days, she has been actively involved with causes that are close to her heart. One of her previous stints was with TeachAIDs, a non-profit incubated at Stanford while she was a grad student, to provide culturally adaptive learning materials about fatal diseases like AIDS. She also supports local non-profits like Seattle Public Library, Pacific Northwest Ballet and Town Hall. Besides Tasveer, Madhuri launched URAVi, her sister's designer Indian wear in US & India in 2012. Work wise, her expertise is in data-backed sales and marketing strategy.Madhuri received her BS from IIT Madras and MS from Stanford, both in Chemical Engineering. She is currently living the Downtown Seattle life to the fullest with her husband.
