The mini theater hosts Traveling Film South Asia 2006. TFSA is traveling set of documentaries selected in Kathmandu, Nepal to travel around the world. Tasveer has hosted TFSA 2004 and TFSA 2002 in the past. We have a few selected from this selection to screen with ISAFF. We regret that we are unable to include the entire set this year.

Dirty Laundry (Sanjeev Chaterjee, South Africa, 2005, 42min)
More than a hundred years after Gandhi left South Africa to pursue a life of Indian nationalist politics, South Africans of Indian origin continue the quest to define themselves and who they are. Dirty Laundry is a travel essay and historical journey that offers a glimpse of this struggle for self-definition and cultural identity in today's world, from the role of South African Indians as revolutionaries in the anti-apartheid struggle up to the activities of the present.

NOTE: Per request from the South African Indian community residing in this area, we have added the South African short film Lucky to be shown after Dirty Laundry. The 6pm program will start 5 minutes late.

Teardrops of Karnaphuli (Tanvir Mokammel, Bangladesh, 2005, 60min)
Teardrops of Karnaphuli, a film by Tanvir Mokammel, talks about Bangladesh's hill people. The documentary has been shot in an interviewing format. The show documents opinions of different tribal groups, employees of different administrations and elected persons as well, the Chakma raja, members of the Shantibahini, Bengali settlers along with many others who have been living in the region.

Rebuilding @ 73°E (Nasir Aziz, USA/Pakistan, 2006)

When a 7.6 magnitude earthquake hit in the Northern areas of Pakistan at 8:52 in the morning of October 8th 2005, the inhabitants of the region suffered a mortal wound. Rescue teams from every corner of the world gathered together and dispatched to 73 Degrees East in Pakistan. This is the story of one such team who journeyed from Seattle to Bugna Village Complex in Northern Pakistan.

Post-film discussionNasir Aziz, a Seattle resident and one of the volunteers traveled with this team to help in their efforts. He documented this trip which was made possible with the generous help provided by the Northwest residents of US, Pakistan Association of Greater Seattle, Alaska Structures and several other volunteers from Seattle Washington and California area.

Sunset Bollywood (Komal Tolani, India, 2005, 54 min)

What happens when you become an overnight sensation in Bollywood and then cannot maintain your star status? Director, Komal Tolani examines the rise, fall and continuous struggle of three stellar performers who fell from grace. Rahul Roy, Kumar Gaurav and Bhagyashree recount their meteoric rise to stardom, the circumstances that caused their spotlights to dim and repeated attempts to launch a comeback.

Continuous Journey (Ali Kazimi, Canada, 2004, 87 min)
In 1914, the Komagata Maru, a ship carrying 376 immigrants from British India, was turned away by Canada. The consequences were felt throughout the British Empire. Continuous Journey is a compelling and eye-opening investigation into the past and present ramifications of this incident. More than history film, Continuous Journey is a provocative, moving, and multilayered essay that interweaves photographs, newsreels, home movies and official documents to unravel a complex and little-known story.
